About The Position

Turner Industries Group is seeking an experienced Millwright for a position in Axis, Alabama. The role installs and/or maintains machinery and equipment in industrial establishments according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and written instructions. It is a non-exempt position reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. The position may involve working with machinery and equipment such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers. Compensation is determined by individual qualifications and experience. Benefits vary depending on employment status.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
One to four years of experience in the specified skill, depending on mechanic level.
Some job sites may require NCCER certification.
Pass a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Dismantle machines and move machinery and equipment.
Assemble and install equipment, including shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers.
Align machines and equipment using the reverse alignment method.
Assemble machines and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundations or other structures.
May operate an engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
May participate in grouting equipment base plates.
Remove plant equipment, disassemble it, repair it, and reinstall it.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
