About The Position

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright. The role involves general mechanical working knowledge, including repair, replacement, and maintenance of various equipment parts, metal fabrication, welding, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, equipment alignment and calibration, and performing preventive maintenance. Additionally, the millwright will be responsible for using hand and power tools, construction/structural assembly, accurate measurements, working safely, ensuring quality workmanship, assigning and confirming work completion, directing contractor work, and issuing hot work permits. General safety knowledge including PPE, Lockout/Tag out, and Fall Protection is essential. Housekeeping duties include maintaining a clean working area and keeping equipment and tools orderly. These requirements and duties provide a broad description and are not all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright
  • Attend West Fraser Qualified Millwright Training
  • Complete competency checklist per level
  • Score a 21 on the Mechanical Reasoning assessment
  • Score Level 1 on the Millwright assessment
  • Have own tools
  • General mechanical working knowledge
  • General safety knowledge including Personal protective equipment (PPE), Lockout and Tag out, and Fall Protection.

Responsibilities

  • Repair/replace/maintain all mobile equipment parts as well as chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearboxes, motors, etc.
  • Metal fabrication
  • Welding; arc, acetylene, and others.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment
  • Align and calibrate equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Use Hand Power Tools; drill, sander, grinder, band saw, etc.
  • Construction/structural assembly.
  • Perform measurements reading English/Metric; tape, caliper, ruler and other.
  • Accountable for working safely
  • Provide quality workmanship.
  • Assign work and confirm completion.
  • Direct and ensure quality work from contractors.
  • Issue hot work permits to meet AON guidelines.
  • Maintain working area clean, shop, field area, vehicle and other.
  • Keep working equipment/shop tools orderly.
