About The Position

Dow is seeking a Millwright Maintenance Technician to join their team in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This role aligns with Dow's Poly Maintenance organization, where the technician will apply specialized craft knowledge to execute planned tasks from the weekly maintenance schedule. Working in an industrial operating facility, the responsibilities include maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a range of motors, pumps, and compressors, requiring strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety and reliability. The role also involves collaborating with various groups to develop plans, procedures, and solutions.

Requirements

  • Must have obtained a high school diploma/equivalent PLUS a Millwright Journeyperson Certificate, Red Seal Designation or a two-year technical diploma (or higher) in a mechanical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant maintenance experience.
  • Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs). Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with poly plant operations and maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and support safe, reliable operations.
  • Clearly communicates work execution status and challenges to workgroup and stakeholders.
  • Complete preventative and predictive maintenance tasks to sustain equipment health and reduce unplanned failures.
  • Acts as first point-of-contact for field technical questions from the millwright team, or operations.
  • Supports apprentice and junior millwright personnel from a mentorship and teaching perspective.
  • Specify, requisition, and install parts and equipment, ensuring accuracy in material and design specifications.
  • Collaborate with planners, Work Area Coordinators (WAC), Operations and Engineering.
  • Support root cause investigations with failure documentation, capturing insights to drive long-term equipment reliability improvements.
  • Collect and analyze equipment performance and historical data to identify trends and improvement initiatives.
  • Follow established maintenance work processes and safety requirements to ensure quality and consistent work execution.
  • Use SAP to effectively document work history.
  • Commissioning and startup of various equipment.
  • Procedure writing and review.
  • Review drawings and schematics for problem solving and design decisions.
