About The Position

As a Millwright Apprentice, you will assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment within the facility. You will develop your skills and knowledge of mechanical systems while working under the guidance of experienced Journeypersons. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn and apply industry best practices. This new position is based on a 40 hour per week schedule typically Monday through Friday but could flex based on business schedule. Additional/Overtime hours may be required based on business schedule.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Enrollment in, or working toward, an Industrial Millwright Apprenticeship is required.
  • Previous hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance is considered an asset, including exposure to CNC and conventional machinery through apprenticeship training or related work placements.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to wear the required PPE.
  • Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR/CGRP directives.
  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and tools as required

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the maintenance and repair of shop floor machines, or helping coordinate repairs when needed.
  • Learning how to troubleshoot equipment issues and support root cause analysis of breakdowns.
  • Checking that safety devices are working properly after repairs, adjustments, or installations.
  • Supporting the preventive maintenance (PM) program to help improve equipment reliability.
  • Following up with contractors and suppliers to help ensure parts are ordered and received on time.
  • Helping prioritize daily work to reduce interruptions to production.
  • Assisting with basic repairs and upkeep of the building and plant structure.
  • Supporting health and safety improvements on machines and within the facility.
  • Participating in 5-S activities and supporting workplace organization and safety awareness.
  • Following all company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
  • Completing basic maintenance logs and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Keeping work areas clean, organized, and environmentally safe.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned to support the maintenance team.
