About The Position

Under the Foremen Supervision the Millwright Apprentice will assemble, install, repair, dismantle or move a variety of equipment and piping to include water, sanitary, gas, process or chemical feed systems. The role involves aligning machines and equipment, dismantling machines, and moving machinery and equipment using various tools and equipment. The apprentice will also work with blueprints and schematic drawings, cut, thread, bend and assemble various pipe materials, and join pipes using different methods. Responsibilities include cutting openings in walls and floors for pipes and securing pipes to structures. The position requires willingness to respond to emergency situations after hours or occasionally work out of town, and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School or Vocational High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical construction trades.
  • OSHA 10 Construction Certification, or ability to obtain during pre-employment (company provided online training).
  • Obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and pass pre-employment drug screen, driving record review and criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprenticeship training in a skilled mechanical trade preferred.
  • Experience in millwrighting, pipefitting, industrial maintenance, welding, or heavy industrial construction is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
  • Under the supervision of the Millwright Foreman, aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Under the supervision of the Millwright Foreman, dismantles machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, cranes, trucks and other equipment.
  • Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
  • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to accept responsibility, be reliable and work with sense of urgency.
  • Cut, thread, bend and assemble PVC, copper, black iron, ductile iron or other materials using hacksaw, pipe-cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine.
  • Join pipe by means of threading, plastic solvent, soldering, brazing, fusing or cementing joints.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and secures pipe to structures with clamps, brackets and hangers using hand or power tools.
  • Be willing to respond to emergency situations after hours or occasionally work out of town.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required.
