About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual for a Millwright Apprentice (3rd or 4th Year) position within its Milling division in Saskatoon, SK. P&H Milling Group is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing a variety of flour and cereal products from wheat sourced across Canada, as well as pea fractions in its Saskatoon specialty milling operation. The company supplies flour to customers across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries from its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta.

Requirements

  • Registered 3rd or 4th year Millwright Apprentice
  • Able to work in environments subject to dust allergens and higher temperatures as well as in all outside weather conditions.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of quality control practices and procedures as per BRCGS regulations.
  • Physically fit with the ability to safely lift 25kg.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Dependable with the ability to work with an on-call schedule.
  • Previous experience (ideally in flour mill operations) which include elevators, conveyors, rotary valves, compressors, blowers, fans, grinders, electric motors, gearboxes, filtration equipment, and packaging equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS

Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine preventative maintenance, service, repair, and maintenance of plant and facilities equipment in a safe and efficient working manner.
  • Maintaining the safety and reliability of machinery and equipment to achieve optimal production efficiency.
  • Assembling, aligning, dismantling, and positioning stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications.
  • Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Using precision measuring and installation tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, feeler gauges, torque wrenches, etc.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Performing general facility maintenance.
  • Completing and complying with all health, safety, and food safety training relating to the job.
  • Completing fall arrest, forklift, telehandler, and aerial work platform training.
