About The Position

The Millwork Production Manager is responsible for leading daily door unit production operations within the millwork shop to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and to established quality standards. This role oversees production workflow, team performance, material readiness, equipment utilization, and continuous improvement efforts while partnering closely with management, purchasing, and sales teams.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in millwork, door unit production, architectural millwork, construction, or a related production environment preferred.
  • Two or more years of supervisory, lead, foreman, or production management experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, measurements, and production documentation.
  • Working knowledge of millwork fabrication methods, woodworking tools, materials, and production sequencing.
  • Experience with production scheduling, workflow planning, quality control, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven production environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee daily millwork production activities to meet project timelines, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop shop employees, including assigning work, monitoring productivity, addressing performance concerns, and supporting training needs.
  • Review drawings, specifications, cut lists, and door unit production requirements to ensure accurate assembly of doors unit, trim, mouldings, and other millwork products.
  • Coordinate with managers, estimators, purchasing, and sales to resolve production questions, material needs, field issues, and schedule changes.
  • Monitor material inventory, tooling, hardware, and supplies to support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Ensure finished products meet company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable architectural or construction requirements.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, proper equipment use, housekeeping standards, and compliance with company safety policies.
  • Identify bottlenecks, production delays, rework trends, and process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Oversee maintenance needs for shop equipment, tools and machinery.
  • Track production performance, communicate status updates, and report issues or risks to leadership in a timely manner.
