About The Position

The Milling & Packaging Operator is responsible for filling product containers and performing final inspections prior to shipping. This role operates within a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour function, with scheduled 8-hour shifts and occasional overtime extending to 12-hour shifts. The position demands a high level of self-management, punctuality, good attendance, and the ability to adapt to various assignments throughout the shift. Employees must be capable of performing duties with minimal direct supervision and adhere to an established performance protocol to meet work goals. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and demonstrating effective teamwork and communication regarding safety and procedural matters. Adherence to safety standards, environmental requirements, and cGMP policies, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. The position requires the ability to operate forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery, with significant physical demands including lifting, tilting, and rolling heavy objects.

  • Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) include a minimum of a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection devices, steeled-toed footwear, gloves (hand protection), long pants and long-sleeve shirt.
  • Additional PPE may include respirators, smocks, coveralls, hair/beard nets, and/or masks as required by the GMP Policy.
  • Capable of operating forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery.
  • Grasping, pushing and pulling up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
  • Able to lift 55 lbs.
  • Ability to tilt and roll 220-pound drums on and off pallets.
  • Visual acuity requirements include normal depth perception and 20/30 vision with or without correction.

Responsibilities

  • Manually fills containers with product and stages product on pallets for shipping.
  • Operates product screen and magnet units to protect product from adulteration or foreign matter.
  • Completes pass down sheets to provide production/packaging information for the next shift.
  • Maintains accurate records via manual batch sheets and SAP and EBS data-based record keeping systems.
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail in recording information concerning product quality and monitoring inventory.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting mechanical problems using basic tools for repairs such as rotary valves or ball valves and/or communicating repair needs.
  • Demonstrates effective teamwork behavior, promotion of process efficiency, and effectively communicate safety and procedural issues with coworkers and supervisor.
  • Has ability to perform under conditions of continuous physical activity in the manual transfer of product.
  • Requires continuously performing all duties under conditions that require adherence to safety standards.
  • Requires knowledge of all environmental requirements and environmental permits for this work area.
  • Responsible for regular housekeeping of the work area consistent with cGMP Policy.
  • Operates high speed blenders and must be able to follow proper safety procedures when cleaning blenders and on bake-outs.
  • Must follow, state, and federal guidelines concerning safety and environmental protection.
  • Proper use of PPE conforming to Level C (general) & Level A (packaging room) standards is required.
