About The Position

The Milling Operator works in the Production Department and reports to the Production Supervisor/Manager. The operator performs milling duties independently with minimal supervision, operates and adjusts mills to support product flow, and sets up combination deck arrangements. The role involves coordinating with Quality Control for lot sampling, developing record-keeping knowledge, following safety and sanitation rules, and maintaining a clean work area. The operator must safely operate a forklift and perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires constant standing and moving product throughout the day, repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds, and the physical stamina to work an eight-hour day. Overtime is required as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 12–18 months of experience in a similar job or similar milling experience.
• Ability to pass pre-employment comprehension and math testing.
• Ability to pass drug-screen testing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular, repetitive basis throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand, lift, and move product throughout the workday and sustain physical activity for eight hours.
• Hand-eye coordination and ability to operate basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform milling duties without direct assistance and with minimal supervision.
• Operate all mills, including mill changeovers and setups, and make adjustments to prevent backups and improve product flow.
• Set up combination deck arrangements accurately and within a reasonable amount of time.
• Work with Quality Control to sample lots as needed.
• Develop knowledge of record keeping.
• Follow safety and sanitation rules.
• Keep the work area and department clean.
• Safely operate a forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Newly Weds Foods.
