About The Position

The Mill Service Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles. This role plays a vital part in ensuring operational efficiency and safety by maintaining fleet readiness and minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate is experienced in diesel mechanics, proficient with hydraulics and electrical systems, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction or industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in diesel engine repair, electrical systems, hydraulics, drivetrains, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Must have own hand tools and basic power tools applicable to the role.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs. regularly; must be physically able to work in various outdoor weather conditions and job site environments.
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using diagnostic software is a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance inspections on all company heavy equipment to ensure peak performance and safety compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and other mechanical components.
  • Interpret and utilize hydraulic and electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Align, calibrate, and test components and systems after repairs or installations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and computer software to assess equipment performance and identify issues.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs on job sites or within the yard as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
