Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Prior exposure to and understanding of operational equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks

Responsibilities

  • Monitor BN-105 dust collector and pressure gauges, receiving bin (BN-305), bin vent (DC-302), and transfer line.
  • Operate and monitor the #3 ball mill and all related equipment, including inspection of the pinion shaft, bearings, and gears.
  • Monitor the journal bearing water coolant system, mill feed screws, discharge chute and auger, pneumatic blower, and surge bin.
  • Record operator initials, ball mill feed rate, motor amps and downtime on the mill operator's log.
  • Operate and monitor the classifiers (CL-301 & CL-302) and all related equipment, including feed and discharge airlocks, feed auger, classifier rotor drive motor and belts, classifier fan, cyclone, and finished product airlocks.
  • Record product grade, classifier rpm, blower pressures, double dump pressures, screens and particle size analysis test results on mill operator's log.
  • Operate and monitor dust collection systems associated with the #3 mill system equipment, including pressure readings, bag pulsing, and take away system on the #3 dust collector.
  • Monitor pressure readings and bag pulsing on the bagger bin vents.
  • Operate and monitor storage bin systems, including off-loading bulk trucks, pneumatic lines, tanks, and bin vents.
  • Maintain proper bin level in Mill feed bin (BN-305) by turning transfer system from BN-105 on as needed.
  • Acknowledge the receipt of material by signing the bill of lading if a supervisor is not present to do so.
  • Operate and monitor the plant air compressor and related equipment, including the air compressor, air dryer, inlet filter, and storage tanks (When #1 & #2 Mill System is not running).
  • Perform test weights per Covia bag weighing procedure and make adjustments to ensure accurate bag weights.
  • Fill, stack & label bulk bags.
  • Record accurate hourly bag counts on mill operator's log.
  • Take samples of finished product using Covia plant process control parameters.
  • Perform screen and particle size analysis testing on finished product samples to ensure the grade of product is within specification.
  • Maintain bag weight accuracy to standards.
  • Inspect, fuel and operate forklift.
  • Load grinding media into the mill feed system or directly into the mill.
  • Perform any other task(s) as deemed necessary by the supervisor(s).
