About The Position

A Mill Operator is responsible for ensuring the mill is producing a quality product as specified by the Nutrition Quality Department and confirmed by outside lab. Operator reports to the Plant Supervisor. This is a night position of 6p-6a.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Willing and able to work and act safely.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include multiplication, addition, and percentages (with calculator if needed).
  • Good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS and various production schedules/reports.
  • Able to lift and move 50 lbs (constantly throughout shift if packaging) for an entire shift.
  • Able to frequently ascend and descend ladders using 3 points of contact.
  • Able to climb stairs on and off a forklift.
  • Able to operate a forklift using hand and foot controls.
  • Able to occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl.
  • Able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.
  • Must be able to operate automatic and manual packers, set bag weights, operate bulk bag filling station, operate forklifts, assist operator in monitoring automatic pack out system.
  • Troubleshoots and solves problems, services equipment, and cleans the plant.
  • Must comply with all company and GMP/FDA rules and regulations and complete annual GMP training.
  • Assists in ensuring top quality housekeeping is maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management System (HSMS) within their sphere of influence, including compliance with any air permits, wastewater permits, storm water permits, or other rules.
  • Compliance with all MSHA, FDA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Bringing all environmental, health and safety and/or quality incidents or concerns to management for resolution.
  • Inspecting mill area for unsafe conditions daily.
  • Operating mill in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performing preventative maintenance servicing of equipment as required.
  • Ensuring equipment is locked out before repair work begins.
  • Conducting Mill service, PM’s and assisting Maintenance with minor repairs of equipment as directed.
  • Producing and loading materials as established by the Plant Manager or Production Manager.
  • Inspecting incoming raw materials on trucks before unloading occurs.
  • Filling out paperwork such as: batch records, plant orders, sample bags, lift truck inspection reports, etc.
  • Keeping work area, warehouse and outside of plant in a neat and orderly condition following GMP guidelines.
  • Directing one or more personnel in the packaging process.
  • Performing packaging duties based upon location or under direction of the Production Manager.
  • Advising succeeding Operator(s), Supervisor/Management and maintenance of operating problems and conditions.
  • Learning and observing all applicable company policies and safe practices and performing all duties assigned by supervisor.
