Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Mill Manager is responsible for leading the mill operations, maintenance and engineering teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in metallurgy, mineral processing or in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the industry.
  • Experience managing diverse teams in challenging conditions.
  • Experience with commissioning frameworks and performance benchmarking.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and start-up safety processes.
  • Has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, listen actively, and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, support colleagues, and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Adaptable and able to respond to changing conditions, learn quickly, and solve problems effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure procedures, systems, training, and documentation (e.g., O&M manuals, start-up plans, permits) are in place and validated before beginning operations.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of operational staff to ensure competence and alignment with project timelines.
  • Establish KPIs and readiness metrics to monitor progress of the start-up.
  • Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous operations to optimize readiness and performance.
  • Recognize and anticipate operational, technical and safety challenges, taking action to prevent or overcome them, and seeking continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to business planning and company strategy to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth.
  • Manage balance between the maintenance department and operations to ensure continuously safe, and efficient production.
  • Oversee major sustaining capital projects to improve mill performance.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols including Permit to Work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory standards, and corporate policies.
  • Identify and mitigate operations readiness-related risks proactively.
  • Develop and oversee application of workforce technical skills development program, with emphasis on first nation leader development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
