Basic Job Functions:The Rolling Mill Utility will learn and function at a safe, high level in all positions on the rolling crew. This will include the Reheat/Crane/BD and UR/Sample Inspection and other necessary mill duties. This position must either have or attain crane certification within one year of start date. The Utility must have basic computer skills, willing to operate all mill equipment, work in extreme weather conditions, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Detailed Selection Criteria:Communication: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand. Controlling Machines and Processes: Using either control mechanisms or direct activity to operate machines and processes, this includes monitoring machines and processes to ensure they are working properly. Initiative: Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges. Attention to Detail: Thorough in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met.
