About The Position

The NYS I Finishing Utility will learn and function at a safe and productive level in all positions on the Finishing crew. These positions include operation of overhead cab cranes 7,8,9,10,11 & 57, remote cranes 49 & 50, the hot saw, straightener, cold saw, inspection bed, recorder, pilers, shipping tables, and repair bed. Must be able to obtain crane and forklift certifications within 90 days. In addition, the Finishing Utility must perform equipment maintenance, cold saw blade changes, straightener changes and assist the rolling crew with roll changes. The Finishing Utility will utilize basic computer skills on the job and be able to use hand tools and measuring devices. Primary duties for the Finishing Utility will be assisting the Repair Person with tasks at the Repair Bed, function as a relief operator as needed and conduct general maintenance of Finishing bay equipment and housekeeping. The Finishing Utility will also be required to work assignments in any area as needed and determined by the Supervisor, Lead Person, or needs of the crew. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

1 year experience in mechanical troubleshooting of industrial equipment
1 year roll mill beam processing experience
Minimum 1-year equipment operator experience
Ability to obtain crane and forklift certifications within 90 days.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices.
