About The Position

The Mill Helper at the Woodstock site performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production of aggregates as well as routine maintenance and repairs as directed. Competitive wages ranging from $27-$28 per hour with benefit and pension plan after 3 months. This position may require split shifts, 3:30pm-1:30am or 9:45pm – 6:45am (Monday -Friday). Overtime and occasional weekends when required.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Working indoors in varied conditions (i.e. hot, noisy, dusty).
  • Mobility through all areas of the plant required, including stairs and ladders.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting less than 50 lbs.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial/Mining plant experience is preferred but not required.
  • Heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required.
  • Basic welding and fitting is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
  • Promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.
  • Understand Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permits.
  • Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program and assist in repairing broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with plant repairs as needed and work at heights when required.
  • Complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.
