We are seeking a Milk Formula Technician (Hourly) to join our milk room team with Touchpoint at Ascension St. Vincent's in Indianapolis, IN. Requirements

  • Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft office applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of hospital or long-term care experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Daily review of orders for formula unit dose, donor milk and expressed milk feedings.
  • Use advanced critical thinking skills to accurately calculate complicated formulas and breast milk. Fortifications based on recipe and patient data.
  • Accurately weighs measures and prepares fortified breast milk and/or formula for infant feeding.
  • Prepare labels to identify mother's milk for individually prepared feedings.
  • Use sanitary techniques to prepare and store mother's/ donor milk.
  • Communicate with dietitians, lactation consultants, nurses, co-workers, and physicians to ensure accurate milk preparation and collection and storage.
  • Maintain sanitation in preparation areas and storage areas in the formula room and NICU feedings for refrigerators and freezers.
  • Participate in department and services to maintain appropriate competence.
  • Adheres to medical center and department dress codes and always presents a professional image.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with all team members, patients, residents, and families. This includes telephone and electronic communication.
  • Promotes the medical center image and maintains a helpful attitude towards employees. Physicians, patients, residents, visitors, and the community to enhance the facility's reputation as a health care center.
