About The Position

Provides classroom instruction for the high school Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program and supports the academic, behavioral, and leadership development of a diverse student population. Delivers curriculum aligned with the U.S. Army and district standards, mentors students, maintains a structured and disciplined learning environment, and ensures compliance with district, state, and military requirements.

Requirements

  • Formal military experience required
  • Obtain and maintain license on Multifunctional School Activity Bus (M-SAB) to support transportation to and from JROTC events less than 14 passengers
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to successfully work independently on multiple projects, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and convey written, graphic, and oral instructions
  • Resilience and Adaptability: Capacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, unforeseen challenges, and evolving priorities while maintaining a solutions-oriented approach and a focus on achieving long-term goals
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skill
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Certified by the U.S. Army as a JROTC Instructor - United States Army
  • Meets classroom educator requirements set by the CO Department of Education - Colorado Department of Education
  • High School or Equivalent

  • Instructional or mentoring experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and assessments; report grades using district systems
  • Observe, evaluate, and document student performance and progress
  • Counsel, mentor, and support students to promote achievement and leadership development
  • Monitor, supervise, and enforce standards of student conduct and behavior
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for lessons and units
  • Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with curriculum guidelines and objectives
  • Teach Military Science/JROTC curriculum using lectures, discussions, technology, and hands-on instruction
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
  • Participate in program activities and school initiatives
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress
  • Maintain accurate attendance, student records, and activity reports
