Sale Creek Middle/High School is a 6-12 school located in Sale Creek, TN, just north of the Chattanooga area in a rural community. We are a small community school that is supported by local businesses, families, and both former and current students. We offer a variety of programs which includes a wide variety of sports, band, JROTC, and many college-level classes in all content areas. At SCMHS, we offer a Future Ready Institute that has multiple pathways, (Engineering Design, Construction & Marketing). Our students have the opportunity to graduate with both OSHA-10 and NCCER Certification. Requirements

  • Federal Certification as a Junior ROTC Instructor
  • Associate’s degree or above - discipline unspecified
  • Retired from the U.S. Army in the grade of Sergeant First Class (E-7) or above
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets at the host high school to which assigned in Hamilton County, Tennessee at the grade level(s) prescribed by the Senior JROTC Instructor (JROTC Department Head) in accordance with the weekly training schedules and the procedures prescribed by the sponsoring military department, JROTC Department Head, and School Principal; performs integrated-curricular instructional and coaching duties and administrative/logistical requirements as prescribed by the School Administration and JROTC Department Head which do not conflict with the primary operational academic mission. Reports directly to the JROTC Department Head.
  • MAINTAINS KNOWLEDGE OF ACADEMIC COURSE MATERIAL AND INTEGRATED-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES INCLUDED IN THE JROTC PROGRAM
  • MAINTAINS INSTRUCTOR STANDARDS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS IN ADDITION TO KNOWLEDGE OF ACADEMIC COURSE MATERIAL AS EXPECTED BY THE SPONSORING MILITARY DEPARTMENT FOR THOSE INSTRUCTING IN THE JROTC PROGRAM
  • PRESENTS ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION TO CADETS SO AS TO MEET DESIRED LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • CONDUCTS ALL LOW-MODERATE RISK ADVENTURE TRAINING IN ACCORDANCE WITH HAMILTON COUNTY RISK MANAGER AND SAFETY DIRECTOR GUIDANCE, HAMILTON COUNTY SCHOOLS JROTC SOP, AND APPLICABLE MILITARY SAFETY DOCTRINE
  • CONDUCTS OTHER INTEGRATED-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AS DIRECTED BY THE SENIOR JROTC INSTRUCTOR
  • PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED
