About The Position

Leidos is hiring a licensed behavioral health professional for its Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) team, supporting Fort Irwin Middle School in California during the 2026–2027 school year. This is a nine-month position following the school calendar. The role provides preventive, non-medical counseling, consultation, and outreach to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth, helping address military-life adjustments before they become more significant challenges. The counselor works with military-connected middle school students and teens, engaging with them in school and community settings and supporting staff and parents. Services include social and emotional learning presentations, guidance on behavior management, and assistance with transitions such as moving to a new home or school. The counselor also participates in training and contract activities and shares information about trends and issues at the assigned installation with Team Leads. Work takes place in multiple indoor and outdoor locations, approximately 60% indoors and 40% outdoors. The role may involve responding to emergent situations, traveling to locations on or off a military installation, traversing uneven terrain, climbing or descending stairs, and working outdoors in varying weather. Site-specific requirements may apply at military installations or related worksites. The position offers no insurance claims to file, no progress notes or treatment plans, an iPad for digital reporting without personally identifiable or protected health information, paid federal holidays, unlimited behavioral healthcare training, reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees, eligibility to participate in a 401(k) plan, and centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence.
