About The Position

Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals for its Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) team supporting Point Loma, California. The counselor provides non-medical, preventive support—including counseling, consultation, and outreach—to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth connected with military installations. Services use solution-focused approaches to address concerns before they become greater challenges and support children and families as they navigate the emotional and environmental stresses of military life. The role serves children from infancy through age five at installation Child Development Centers, as well as school-aged children, youth, and teens in before- or after-school care settings. Counselors engage in age-appropriate activities, coach staff and parents, offer presentations, build relationships with families, and help children adjust to transitions such as a new school or home. The position also includes training and contract activities, sharing installation trends and issues with Team Leads, and potentially responding to emergent situations or traveling to other locations. Work is performed in multiple indoor and outdoor settings at the direction of the Department of Defense: approximately 60% indoors and 40% outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a Department of Defense-controlled Child Development Center and may require sitting on the floor with children for up to two hours at a time. Outdoor work may involve uneven grass, gravel, or dirt, stairs, and exposure to weather. Counselors may also need to travel beyond a military base and meet site-specific requirements. Leidos provides an iPad for digital reporting; the description states that no personal or protected health information is included in that reporting.
