About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting Veterans Services with the one stop concept at AUM and integrating the current Veterans and Military Resource Center policies and procedures. For full consideration upload a cover letter, resume, and a list of at least three professional references.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of general office experience.
  • Knowledge of basic word processing software and the ability to operate standard PC/PC software applications
  • Knowledge of scope, guidelines, and operation of departmental or unit program
  • Knowledge of assigned department forms, rules, etc.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable university policies and procedures
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • Ability to review materials and identify discrepancies or mistakes (i.e., proofreading)
  • Ability to respond to several demands at one time
  • Ability to maintain records
  • Ability to provide information and assistance to assigned staff and customers
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities and the work of others
  • Knowledge of acceptable advising and/or recruiting techniques and practices

Responsibilities

  • Basic training of VA work study student workers.
  • Recruit prospective students and inform veterans, military personnel and families of the educational benefits and opportunities that AUM has to offer.
  • Function as a point of contact for Veterans Services, to receive visitors and/or telephone calls; answer routine questions; take messages and/or refer to appropriate offices.
  • Assist with liaison efforts and request, sort, display and distribute military and benefit related materials appropriately.
  • Participate in admission activities both on and off campus.
  • Provide initial advising to prospective students and parents about admission, financial aid and registration processes.
  • Work closely with the Office of Financial Aid, Office of Student Accounts, and the Scholarships Office to ensure that the proper information is provided to the students.
  • Coordinate activities involving the distribution and receipt of information from departments or units within the assigned area.
  • Coordinate the work of other staff including administrative personnel, student workers, and part-time employees.
  • Participate in call campaigns and outreach initiatives as directed.
