Teen Shelter Services Part Time Milieu Specialist
About The Position
The Teen Center is currently seeking a temporary Milieu Caseworker to work as part of the Teen Services team. Teen Services is open 24/7 365 days a year and provides services to youth ages 12-20. This position will work within the Preble Street Teen Center and the Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter. Milieu Caseworkers work as part of a dynamic team, providing and collaborating on casework services to youth experiencing homelessness; staffing the Teen Center and Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter to provide basic services, information and referral; and providing crisis intervention in a low-barrier setting. The schedule for this position is Friday-Monday from 3pm-9pm.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant social work experience
- Skills and knowledge to effectively work with youth experiencing homelessness toward securing safe, stable housing
- Commitment to the mission of Preble Street
- Positive regard for community members accessing homeless services
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Undergo and pass a physical examination, which includes a test for TB
- Hold certification or become certified in First Aid (on-site training opportunities offered)
- Provide proof of education (diploma or transcript)
- Have acceptable background check results
- Attend recurrent, regularly-scheduled trainings, which are provided on-site
