About The Position

Under general supervision, the position of Bilingual Mental Health Support Counselor is responsible for supporting the delivery of comprehensive therapeutic intervention and assessment services to children presenting with complex behavioral health needs due to psychological reactions to trauma, anxiety, depression or other mental health diagnoses.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Valid Driver’s License
Minimum of two-years’ direct clinical experience working with children and families with complex behavioral health needs (and their families) preferably in a school and/or milieu setting
Computer skills, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Electronic Health Records Systems a plus
Proven ability to follow clinics protocols as well as making independent decisions in the best interest of the families while working both in the office and in the field
Proven ability to communicate with families as well as with other providers such as school social workers, teachers and other community partners among others
Demonstrated ability to maintain healthy boundaries between personal and professional responsibilities to be able to function in a high stress job
Proven ability to manage conflict appropriately and advocate for victims of violence
Knowledge of person centered care
Appropriate guidance and facilitation skills of families in the context of the culture, health status, and health needs
Knowledge of basic group skills
Basic negotiation skills
Ability to delegate tasks, responsibilities, etc.

Responsibilities

Work with Lead Community-Based Clinician to coordinate all community-based Evidence Based Practice (EBP) services
Conduct screenings/assessments and complete initial intake paperwork for EBP group participants and the EDT and IOP programs as needed
Facilitate evidence-based therapeutic trauma groups and individual and family sessions
Act as liaison between Mid-Fairfield and clients, schools and other community partners
Co-facilitate Trauma-Informed Care trainings in the community as needed
Work with Lead Community-Based Clinician to provide support and reflective consultation services to identified community partners
Coordinate transportation services and process transportation billing for the IOP and Extended Day treatment Programs
Co-facilitate groups in the IOP program
Provide interpretation services for EBP school-based and IOP/EDT programs as needed
Process incoming referrals and facilitate community referrals for alternative services as needed
Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new hires for EDT/IOP programs
Maintain all necessary documentation, electronic health records, scheduling, and billing requirements
Participate in Staff Meetings, Conferences, Community Activities, In-Service Training Activities, and Workshops identified by Mid-Fairfield Community Care Center as conducive to continued growth and skill development.
