About The Position

The Client Milieu Coordinator position is a full-time (Monday-Friday, 8-5pm), in-person direct-service based position. The Client Milieu Coordinator position is tasked with opening up the REACH office each day and is central to the creation and daily maintenance of a warm, inviting environment for the purpose of engaging the clients REACH serves. This position takes the lead on setting a tone of hospitality and modeling respectful engagement and clear boundary setting that creates an opportunity for healing-focused experiences for clients. This position fosters relationships and community building with individuals who have experienced marginalization associated with chronic homelessness and systemic oppression. Client-centered services are provided from a harm reduction perspective, utilizing motivational interviewing and trauma informed care approaches. This position requires exceptional ability to consistently set limits in a respectful manner to ensure the milieu environment remains safe and welcoming for all. It requires excellent awareness of interpersonal interactions and the ability to manage client flow in the REACH office space. De-escalation skills and the ability to prevent conflicts by proactively intervening when people exhibit challenging behaviors associated with intoxication or other behavioral health conditions is required. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and regular multi-tasking as well as the ability to develop systems to maintain safety and the flow of clients in the milieu. The nature of this position requires a collaborative, team-player mentality as well as creative thinking, multi-tasking abilities, excellent interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution skills. The Client Milieu Coordinator may help coordinate and facilitate, in conjunction with other REACH staff, support groups, outings, special events, and other group activities for REACH clients. This requires community engagement and the development and maintenance of positive, collaborative relationships with REACH staff and partner agencies to effectively coordinate and deliver services.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Undergraduate degree preferred.
Academic training in the social service field and in the area of substance use disorder and mental health services desired.
Relevant experience may substitute for degree.
A minimum of three years’ experience in work related to social work or outreach programs.
Experience providing healing-centered services from a harm-reduction perspective for people experiencing behavioral health challenges essential.
Demonstrated conflict resolution and de-escalation skills required.
An understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to helping create an equitable environment for all ETS clients and patients as well as fellow staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/ written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.
Punctual, dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem solving.
Flexible team player, with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, set clinical boundaries with clients effectively, and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.
Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.
Ability to read, interpret and track general business correspondence, policies and procedures, referral information, financial documentation and applicable government regulations.
Ability to write case notes, uncomplicated reports, instructions and procedures.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from clients, staff, referral sources and the general public.
The employee may be exposed to illicit drug residues and fumes or other bio-hazardous materials when carrying out job functions.
There is also potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Local travel on behalf of the agency is a job requirement.

Responsibilities

The Client Milieu Coordinator (CMC) is the anchor position that ensures the success of all REACH services, groups, and activities within the milieu space.
The CMC takes a leadership role in providing hospitality, maintaining order and office flow and connecting clients to care managers.
The CMC will seek input from staff and clients regarding new ideas for groups as well as continuing to develop and implement new group activities.
The CMC will assess the behavior of all REACH clients before any community outings to ensure safety and optimal community experience.
For longer outings the CMC will consult with assigned case managers to confirm each client’s medical/emotional stability to ensure appropriate inclusion in outing.
Help create a safe, hospitable, and welcoming environment for clients in the REACH space.
Develop rapport and trusting relationships with clients through respectful, healing-centered engagement practices.
Maintain up to date knowledge of community resources and provide information and referral services to clients and staff as needed in the milieu.
Orient new clients to the milieu, including client rights and responsibilities.
Orient new staff to the milieu and support all REACH staff in utilizing trauma informed care approaches in the milieu
Collaborate with Care Managers to set up self-care plans for all REACH clients
Maintain order in the office by staffing the front desk and checking clients into AGENCY
Answer phones and general inquires
Facilitate flow of clients through the REACH milieu space
Coffee-making and associated supply replenishment
Light cleaning tasks as needed to maintain relative cleanliness of milieu space (not heavy janitorial)
Bathroom Checks as needed to ensure client safety and restroom cleanliness
Keep the bulletin board up-to-date with resources relevant to the REACH population
Inventory milieu supplies and coordinate ordering with central purchaser
Collaboratively develop & implement systems to support clients in the milieu space with behavioral issues
Provide engagement and ongoing supportive services to REACH clients in group settings
Document all relevant client interactions in AGENCY according to program requirements.
Regularly utilize clinical supervision, case consultation and peer support for exploring clinical intervention strategies, countertransference, resource development, self-care and burnout prevention.
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with REACH partners and other service providers.
Identify gaps and barriers in available community resources and advocate for systemic changes.
Attend REACH Program staff meetings and other required meetings.
Carry out all job responsibilities in accordance with ETS REACH values, policies and procedures.
