MIG Welder

Texas Hydraulics•Temple, TX

About The Position

Texas Hydraulics is seeking a MIG Welder to set up equipment, prepare and weld production components, and inspect finished work as part of building hydraulic products. The role uses GMAW/MIG welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions and requires proper fusion, weld size, and bead profile. The welder prepares and assembles components, follows welding documentation and safety procedures, and makes repairs or removes excess weld material as needed. The job is performed in a manufacturing environment. Regular duties involve standing, handling tools and parts, reaching, and lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds. The environment includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, welding fumes, and airborne particles; frequent exposure to process heat, welding radiation, and vibration; occasional risk of electrical shock; and typically loud noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and welding documentation.
  • Basic math skills, including calculations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform GMAW/MIG welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions, using techniques that achieve required fusion, weld size, and bead profile.
  • Select and change welding wire, connect cables and work leads, and adjust equipment settings according to Welding Engineering requirements and production documentation.
  • Clean and prepare weld joints, preheat parts to specified temperatures, position components in jigs or fixtures, and tack assemblies before welding.
  • Inspect welds for specified characteristics and properly tie in weld starts and stops.
  • Repair welds as needed and remove excess weld material, slag, and spatter.
  • Follow safety rules and operating procedures, and demonstrate integrity and accountability.
