About The Position

AES, a division of Lennox, is seeking a skilled MIG Welder for its Tallassee, AL location. This 3rd shift position is responsible for performing welding tasks with precision and expertise on various materials, including galvanized steel and aluminum. The welder will interpret blueprints, ensure product quality, and contribute to the fabrication of custom and standard products such as roof curbs and drop boxes. This role involves working closely with shop managers and engineers to address product issues and streamline production methods. The position requires adherence to safe welding practices and a commitment to quality.

Requirements

  • Familiar with safe welding practices.
  • Capable of learning to read fabrication drawings with some instruction.
  • Capable of welding 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel (can be taught).
  • Capable of blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Individual must be a self-starter and need minimal guidance on daily tasks.
  • Must be quality oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tape measures, diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of MIG welding machines with respect to preventive maintenance and control settings.
  • Able to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-year previous MIG welding experience.
  • Able to work with a positive attitude and in a team setting.
  • Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or certification in welding.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom and standard products from blueprints with high attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Communicate with shop manager and engineering on product issues and assist with streamlining methods for production.
  • MIG weld 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel for adapters, curbs, and other products.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welded components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and successful project completion.
  • Under direct supervision, spot welds together metal components.
  • Physically capable of loading fabrication parts onto the weld table.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and adjust control settings on MIG welding machines for maximum efficiencies.
