About The Position

Expressions of interest are open for the Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) leave cover pool, to assist in backfill for leave coverage required over the next 12 months across the following areas at Mater Hospital Springfield: Maternity (BS, PAC, WHC), Maternity Inpatients & MGP, NCCU & Paeds. Successful applicants to the pool will be provided with opportunities throughout the year to undertake relief in MUM/NUM roles aligned to their nominated areas of interest and capability. Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
  • Current advanced clinical knowledge and experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care – you do not need to be able to cover all areas, please specify where you are interested in covering.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Proven high level competence in leading and managing clinical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a clinical cost centre
  • Tertiary qualification in Midwifery, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards)
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the clinical and operational management, the Midwifery Unit Manager takes overall responsibility for the health care environment and standard of patient care.
  • The MUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, patient flow, financial management, change management and the experience of women and families throughout their admission.
