This role involves providing direct, exceptional dermatological care to patients. The Midlevel Provider will perform a review of patients’ medical history, conduct full body skin exams, and order diagnostic tests such as blood tests and x-rays. They will send biopsies to pathology and interpret results to establish diagnoses and treatment plans for skin conditions, including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. Treatment procedures include minor surgical procedures like biopsies, cryo-therapy, ED&C, and excisions. The provider will also counsel patients and their families on skin safety education, prescribe necessary medications, and record patient progress. Continuous research for current treatment procedures is expected to ensure quality care. The position requires expert clinical judgment, the ability to function independently, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with physicians, staff, community health workers, patients, and their families. The provider must be able to work with little or no supervision, take initiative, and clearly communicate complex medical information. Responsibilities also include completing MIPS requirements and clinical notes within 48 hours of a patient visit, and possessing conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. The role frequently involves participating in community outreach programs to promote the practice and educate on skin cancer prevention and healthy living. Professionally, the individual must demonstrate initiative, responsibility, focus on repetitive tasks, adherence to ethical principles, and adaptability to change. They are required to attend all team meetings and mandatory in-service training/education. Communication involves recognizing cultural diversity, adapting communication to individual understanding, using professional telephone etiquette, and appropriate medical terminology. The provider must treat all patients and co-workers with compassion, empathy, and mutual respect, project a professional image, and maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Legally, the role requires maintaining confidentiality, accurate documentation, using appropriate guidelines for releasing patient information, practicing within the scope of education, training, and personal capabilities, and adhering to Suncoast’s Employee Handbook. Awareness of federal and state health care legislation and regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA, is also essential.
