About The Position

Principia Education is seeking dynamic, experienced tutors to join their growing team of instructors. They are a one-stop shop for students' educational needs, covering all academic subjects, test prep, and college consulting. Their goal is to focus on content, celebrate creativity and flexibility, and build long-term relationships with students and families. The team consists of empathetic and excellent communicators, and they are looking for a teacher who takes pride in their attention to detail, reliability, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 1-2 years of teaching/tutoring experience.
• A weekly commitment of at least 10 teaching hours in our McLean office.
• Flexibility to work both weekday evenings and weekends.
• Long-term plans to stay in the education field part-time—we ask for at least a one-year commitment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct all sides of SSAT, HSPT, and TJ test prep sessions (reading/writing/language and math) plus academic sessions for upper elementary and middle school students
• Communicate directly with families in a professional and timely manner.
• Coordinate with Principia leadership and operations staff to maintain a positive environment and exceptional standards.

Benefits

• Compensation: Beginning instructors start at $50 per teaching hour, and experienced instructors earn over $100 per hour.
