About The Position

Colorado Springs Christian Schools (CSCS), founded in 1971, is a leading private, non-denominational Christian educational school for grades K-12. CSCS is accredited by ACSI and NCA CASI. The school's mission is to provide an excellent education from a Christ-centered, biblical perspective for lifelong service. All employees are considered ministers of the Gospel and are expected to integrate biblical truths into their responsibilities, including leading devotions and prayer. This role requires spiritual maturity, a strong grasp of Christian education, and the ability to demonstrate true biblical integration through the subject area. The teacher will guide the learning process, employ diverse instructional techniques, prepare lessons, create a conducive classroom environment, monitor student progress, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the teacher will serve as a spiritual and relational mentor to small peer groups of middle school students and support the school's mission and organizational standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university
• Has or able to obtain an Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teacher certificate
• Has or able to obtain CPR & First Aid training
• Demonstrates a spiritual maturity in attitude, actions and speech, showing a consistent walk with Jesus Christ
• In all work, is sensitive to the spiritual needs of students and parents, and co-workers
• Evidence of spiritual maturity and strong grasp of Christian education; ability to demonstrate true biblical integration through the subject area
• Understanding of curriculum and demonstrated ability to integrate subject area into interdisciplinary units as appropriate
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of Servant Leadership
• Affirm, in writing, commitment to the Doctrinal Statement annually by contract

Responsibilities

• Effectively integrate biblical truths throughout all academic teachings
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established curriculum goals
• Employ a variety of instructional and technological techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students; utilizes current technology and variable modalities including hands-on demonstrations and activities
• Prepares appropriately for classes and shows written evidence of preparation, including lesson plans
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning; includes appropriate code of conduct policy
• Monitor and assesses academic progress; communicates with parents and administrators regarding the progress and potential of students
• Ability and desire to lead small peer groups of middle school students as a spiritual and relational mentor
• Maintains accurate, complete, and up-to-date records including attendance and grades
• Commits and fully supports the missional and organizational standards including our Core Values, Mission Statement, Statement of Faith and Christian Beliefs, and Doctrinal Statement
• Through effective communication, build healthy, effective relationships with students and families to support and enforce the biblical, whole-child educational experience
• Participates in curriculum and staff development training
• Participates in before / after school activities as requested by Administrator
• Works well with other teachers, support staff and administrators
• Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day as well as an occasional evening activity as assigned
• Maintains a safe and orderly classroom to promote an inviting place for students to learn and to inhibit relational aggression
• Is competent with tests, assessments, and the use of data in making educational decisions
• Supervises teacher aides and volunteers as assigned
