About The Position

The Middle School Teacher delivers instruction to students in grades 6–8 in a specific subject area, such as Math, Science, or Language Arts. The role includes planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment. The position is based at Mevers School of Excellence in Goose Creek, South Carolina, and reports to the Principal. It is full-time and exempt.

The teacher works in a professional school environment and routinely uses standard office equipment and instructional materials. Noise is typically moderate but may be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required. The role includes communicating effectively, sitting, standing, walking, handling objects and equipment, reaching, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in the subject area or a related field.
• Valid South Carolina teaching certification.
• Knowledge of middle school education best practices.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging, grade-appropriate lesson plans in a specific subject area.
• Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Maintain accurate student records for grades, attendance, and performance.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress.
• Create a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
• Participate in school committees, activities, and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Uphold school policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
