About The Position

Light of the World Academy (LOTWA) is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Middle School Teacher to lead a self-contained classroom for students in grades 7 and 8. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while creating a positive and engaging classroom culture. While an English Language Arts (ELA) background is preferred, we welcome candidates from other educational backgrounds who possess strong instructional skills and a commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will have excellent classroom management skills, experience working with middle school students, and a passion for fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Experience with Montessori education, project-based learning, or other student-centered instructional approaches is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Elementary Education endorsement with eligibility to teach grades 7 and 8 in a self-contained classroom.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Commitment to supporting the academic and social-emotional development of middle school students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching middle school students.
  • Background or endorsement in English Language Arts.
  • Montessori experience or familiarity with Montessori philosophy.
  • Experience with project-based learning and student-centered instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated success creating engaging and rigorous learning environments.
  • Candidates who are actively enrolled in a teacher certification program and nearing completion of certification requirements may be considered.
