About The Position

The Middle School Special Education Teacher will consult with teachers and provide direct instruction to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves developing educational plans, assisting with student inclusion, and coordinating with various school personnel to support student goals and modifications.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Moderate Special Needs Teacher Preferred or Intensive Special Needs Teacher

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison for each assigned IEP student.
  • Provide tutorial and small group instruction for IEP specified services.
  • Develop educational plans (IEPs) to meet students’ needs.
  • Assist regular education teachers in the successful inclusion of IEP students.
  • Consult with teachers, guidance, and other support personnel for student goals, educational modifications, make-up work, untimed tests, organizational skills, and other skills stipulated on the IEP.
  • Attend team meetings for new students and provide services (including writing of new IEP or amendment) as determined by team.
  • Coordinate with guidance counselors to oversee the tutorial program and schedule for any assigned IEP students.
  • Works as a team member for other specified duties at Gardner High School.
  • Complete all paperwork (including referrals for reevaluation) within the specified time limits.
  • Act as a resource for parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Chair team meetings.
