Middle School Special Education Paraprofessional
About The Position
DeKalb County Central United School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional at DeKalb Middle School. This role involves supporting instructional personnel by performing routine clerical and supportive activities. The paraprofessional will work with individual or small groups of students with learning disabilities, utilizing instructional materials and methods to address student needs. Key aspects of the role include managing student behavior, maintaining control, and collaborating with teachers and other paraprofessionals in both special education and general education settings. This is a 35-hour per week position.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push or otherwise move 25 to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Work with an individual or small group of students who have learning disabilities as directed by the teacher.
- Make effective use of instructional materials and demonstrate effective methods of instruction to ensure that individual student performance levels, needs, and abilities are addressed.
- Exercise behavior management and maintain control of students assigned to your care.
- Collaborate with teachers and other paraprofessionals in the special education and general education classrooms.
