About The Position

Kettle Falls School District is currently recruiting for a Middle School Softball Coach. The daily work schedule will vary slightly according to team practice and competition schedules, but will generally be focused on a 3-6pm time slot, Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must be available for all practices and competitions during the coaching season.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.
  • Must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coaching softball at some level is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition.
  • Motivating student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
  • Holding organizational meetings for team prospects and encouraging potential athletes to participate in the sport.
  • Assessing player’s skills and assigning team positions.
  • Developing a regular practice schedule and organizing practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Working with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
  • Assigning duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
  • Coaching and instructing players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observing players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Determining game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining standards of pupil behavior and providing proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Monitoring the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encouraging student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
  • Following established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Conferring with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
  • Following state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  • Modeling sports-like behavior and maintaining appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Acting as a team representative and promoting the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
  • Following established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Working with the athletic director to develop a policy for awards and submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participating in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  • Modeling nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
