About The Position

The School Social Worker/Counselor will provide leadership by developing and implementing an evidenced based social and emotional program by working directly and consistently with students and their families to maximize success in school, home, and community.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification of Bachelor in Social Work or Masters of School Counseling.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting, and ability to implement evidenced based interventions with fidelity.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Qualification of Master's Degree in Social Work.

Responsibilities

  • Implement interventions to meet the mental health and social emotional needs of students in the middle school
  • Provide brief counseling to individuals and groups, using appropriate strategies.
  • Provide support to and collaborate with families to ensure student needs are being met in school, home, and community.
  • Consult and collaborate effectively with community agencies and mental health professionals to coordinate service.
  • Respond to mental health crisis situations in a calm and controlled manner.
  • Collaborate with child protection services to ensure student safety.
  • Coordinate and manage 504 Plans.
  • Manage truancy and educational neglect concerns.
  • Co-facilitate problem solving meetings with grade level teams to ensure student success and intervention implementation.
  • Serve as a member of the district mental health team to support school-wide initiatives for staff, students, and families/community members.
