About The Position

DC Prep is seeking Middle School Social Studies Teachers for 7th and 8th grade for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you will be responsible for providing Social Studies instruction to students. Prior to 7th grade, Social Studies content is integrated into ELA instruction. DC Prep is a high-performing network of public charter schools serving preschool through 8th-grade students across six campuses. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of lead teaching experience as a teacher in an urban public school with a record of high student achievement highly preferred.
  • Concentration or advanced degree in education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan thoughtfully and teach joyously, adapting the rigorous, standards-based curriculum to meet the particular needs of students, scaffolding learning, and infusing the day with joy.
  • Plan for grade-level instruction and small group instruction to meet students where they are.
  • Use data intentionally to analyze academic and classroom culture data to inform instruction and target focus areas.
  • Invest in own learning through weekly professional development, observations, and feedback conversations.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues to ensure student success.
  • Take time daily to plan together, troubleshoot problems, and adapt approaches.
  • Build mastery in Social Studies content area.
  • Embody the DC Prep Way, contributing to a culture of high expectations and student achievement.
  • Perform clerical duties related to instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance reports, and assessments.
  • Regularly perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned.
  • Attend staff and student field trips, after school events, family-teacher conferences, home visits, and other events involving parents and students as needed.
