About The Position

Educates and nurtures students in alignment with Yinghua Academy’s mission, core values, and guiding principles. Promotes critical thinking, civic engagement, historical understanding, and global awareness through meaningful and engaging social studies instruction.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in Social Studies (5–12) or has the ability to obtain a Minnesota teaching license.
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology as an instructional tool.
Must meet all employment requirements including, but not limited to, criminal background checks and reference checks.

Nice To Haves

Strong understanding of middle school pedagogy and adolescent development preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Follows curriculum pacing guides and lesson plans; delivers direct instruction and supports students in developing knowledge, analytical skills, and an appreciation for history, geography, civics, economics, and global studies.
Conducts student assessments in a variety of formats to monitor growth and mastery.
Works collaboratively with Director of English Instruction and grade level team members to plan lessons and share academic resources.
Attends grade-level academic events as scheduled.
Prepares and regularly submits curriculum pacing and lesson plans.
Integrates current events and culturally responsive resources to enrich student learning.
Participates in all scheduled professional development.
Follows school-wide behavioral and safety guidelines and policies.
Applies school and classroom rules consistently and effectively.
Seeks guidance regularly from administration and Q-Comp lead teachers on behavior and classroom management strategies.
Maintains accurate student records and proper documentation.
Prepares progress reports and completes all evaluations.
Attends all required safety and health training.
Follows all school policies and protocols.
Actively participates in grade-level and staff meetings.
Communicates expectations for academic performance, classroom behavior, and personal management to students.
Maintains timely and effective communication with parents.
Conducts parent-teacher conferences as scheduled.
Reads all school communications and responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
Upholds professional and ethical standards in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and respect in all matters, including student-related information and sensitive organizational topics.
Models and encourages all behavior outlined by the Board-approved Professional Conduct Policy.
Maintains confidentiality in all areas related to students.
Demonstrates reliability and good judgment.
Participates in required training and ongoing relevant professional development.
