About The Position

Newton Country Day School is seeking a passionate, positive, and encouraging Middle School Soccer Assistant Coach to support its middle school soccer program during the Fall 2026 season. This is an excellent opportunity for a coach who enjoys working with young athletes and is committed to creating a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Working alongside the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will help teach soccer fundamentals, foster teamwork and sportsmanship, and inspire student-athletes to grow both on and off the field. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about mentoring middle school students while embracing the mission and values of Newton Country Day School and Falcon Athletics.

Requirements

  • Previous soccer coaching or competitive playing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged athletes is a plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
  • Passion for teaching the game while fostering confidence, teamwork, and character development.
  • Valid driver's license with the willingness and ability to drive school vehicles.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and meet school employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading three practices per week focused on technical skills, tactical understanding, teamwork, and player development.
  • Help coach all middle school practices and games while supporting the goals and philosophy of the overall soccer program.
  • Teach age-appropriate soccer fundamentals, including passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting, defending, positioning, and game strategy.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging team culture that promotes confidence, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor student-athletes of varying experience and skill levels, supporting both athletic and personal development.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, the Athletics Department, and school administration.
  • Safely transport student-athletes by driving school vehicles to practices and competitions, when needed.
  • Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Benefits

  • Receive a $3,000 seasonal stipend while coaching approximately 6 hours per week, including three practices each week and scheduled games throughout the Fall 2026 season.
