About The Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Science teacher to teach middle school during the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves creating a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth, establishing effective rapport with students, motivating them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for continuing education, and fostering healthy relationships with parents and other staff members. Patriot Preparatory Academy began in 2010 as a K-12 public charter school and offers a supportive environment for teachers preparing students for college/career.

Requirements

Ability to teach middle school
Ability to create a class environment conducive for learning and personal growth
Ability to establish effective rapport with students
Ability to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education in accordance with each student’s ability
Ability to establish/foster healthy relationships with parents and other staff members
Ability to prepare/update/submit curriculum map which includes all state standards and material covered on state assessments
Ability to collaborate with other teachers in your content area to vertically align all curriculum maps to ensure all students success in your content area
Ability to implement district curriculum provided by the curriculum teams
Ability to present lessons that are engaging, relevant, and align with submitted curriculum map
Ability to modify/adjust instruction based upon classroom assessment data to ensure mastery of concepts
Ability to modify instructional practices/routines in accordance with students’ IEP, 504, ELL, or Gifted identifications
Ability to use both formal and informal assessments throughout each lesson
Ability to assign classwork/homework regularly that reviews or prepares for lesson
Ability to use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussions, lecture, discovery and instructional aides to engage students in active learning
Ability to create positive educational climate for students
Ability to implement a positive behavior reward system
Ability to follow all PPA policies to help ensure uniformity of the program
Ability to observe and collaborate with other teachers in the building multiple times throughout the year to for mutual growth/development in accordance with the peer observation program
Ability to attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement
Ability to reflect and evaluate lessons/policies/practices often
Ability to build a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student
Ability to maintain a strong collaborative relationship with teachers, instructional support staff, etc.
Ability to be supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and students

Responsibilities

Annually prepare/update/submit curriculum map which includes all state standards and material covered on state assessments
