Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons using culturally-responsive pedagogical strategies to support academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Prepare and internalize curriculum, creating engaging unit and lesson plans.
  • Administer, grade, and analyze assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Utilize the Responsive Classroom approach to foster a positive classroom culture.
  • Foster an environment built on restorative practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across content areas and grade levels.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, including PLCs, grade level meetings, and PD sessions.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and ongoing parent communication.
  • Ensure student safety at all times.
  • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students (arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch/playground duty, extracurricular activities).
  • Attend field trips, which may include overnight trips.
  • Actively engage in identity work to dismantle white supremacy culture.
