About The Position

St. Louis Catholic Academy is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and faith-filled Middle School Science Teacher to provide high-quality instruction to students in grades 6–8. The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging learning environment that promotes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, academic excellence, and spiritual growth. The teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by integrating Catholic values into the curriculum while preparing students for future academic success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of life science, physical science, earth science, and scientific inquiry practices.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and effective science lessons for middle school students.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Ability to incorporate technology and hands-on learning into instruction.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
  • Commitment to fostering both academic excellence and faith development in students.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Missouri teaching certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging science instruction aligned with school curriculum and academic standards.
  • Teach middle school science concepts through hands-on activities, experiments, demonstrations, and technology-based learning opportunities.
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and scientific inquiry skills.
  • Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, labs, and other evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic concerns, and classroom activities.
  • Integrate Catholic values and teachings into the educational experience.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to support school goals and student success.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, parent conferences, and school events.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, supplies, and laboratory materials in a safe and organized manner.
  • Ensure adherence to school policies and procedures regarding student safety and conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
