About The Position

This position is for a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, following the MEA Master Agreement Calendar. The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering engaging science instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for teaching a range of secondary science courses and differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs. This includes utilizing various instructional strategies and technology, assessing student progress, and providing feedback. Maintaining accurate records, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom, and collaborating with colleagues are also key aspects of the role. The position also involves participation in student support plans, academic intervention, and professional development. Requirements

  • Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with DI, DX, or DQ (Science) 6-8 Endorsement

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum
  • Teach a range of secondary science courses
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students, including English learners and students with disabilities
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to support student learning
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction
  • Provide timely feedback to students and communicate academic progress to parents/guardians
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school and district expectations
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities (PLCs) to analyze data and improve instructional practices
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, and other student support plans
  • Provide academic intervention and enrichment as needed, including tutoring or extra help sessions
  • Integrate real-world applications and problem-solving into science instruction
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with administrators, counselors, and support staff
  • Uphold district policies, school rules, and professional ethics
