About The Position

Lincoln School is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with a start date of August 26, 2026. New faculty orientation will be held on August 21 & 24. This position is for Grade 7 science and will be part of a grade-level team consisting of an English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and social studies teacher. The team will have a special education liaison and collaborate with specialists and related-service providers. The school utilizes a team-based middle-level learning model for Grades 5-8 and employs Responsive Classroom practices, aligning with the AIDE lens. In the coming years, the position may include an additional core subject area and possible grade-level changes to implement cohesive three-section core teams. Candidates with dual/multi-certification are encouraged to apply. All new faculty receive a first-year mentor. This position reports to the school principal and works under the direction of the K-8 STEM Coordinator.

Requirements

  • DESE Teacher Licensure in at least one of the following: Middle School Mathematics/Science 5-8, General Science 5-8, Elementary 1-6 (if Grade 6), or General Science 1-6 (if Grade 6).
  • Flexibility to teach another core subject area in addition to middle-level science.
  • A deep understanding of middle-level education and young adolescent development.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in another core subject area.
  • Willingness to obtain an additional certification.
  • Dual/multi-certification, such as Middle School Mathematics/Science (5-8) or Elementary (1-6) for Grade 6.

Responsibilities

  • Teach science to middle school learners (Grade 7 for the 2026-27 school year).
  • Collaborate with grade-level team colleagues (ELA, mathematics, social studies).
  • Work closely with special education liaisons and related-service providers.
  • Have an assigned advisory group in the grade level.
  • Utilize Responsive Classroom practices.
  • Align with the AIDE lens.
  • Potentially teach an additional core subject area in the future.
  • Participate in regular meeting time with other school and district colleagues.
