About The Position

Carmen Schools of Science & Technology is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Science Teacher for the American Board Residency program at South Middle Campus for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves designing engaging, rigorous lessons aligned to academic standards, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and using data to inform instruction. The teacher will differentiate to meet varied learning needs, build strong relationships with students and families, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in professional development. Carmen Schools will cover the cost of licensure and associated fees. The ideal candidate embodies empathy, growth, and belief, demonstrating compassion for students' diverse experiences and an unwavering belief in their potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Licensure issued by Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction (or eligibility for such licensure) in ALL subject areas to be taught
  • Successful teaching experience, urban school(s) preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in creating a learning environment that fosters college readiness and high student achievement
  • Ability to serve as an advisor to a small group of students
  • Ability to communicate effectively to achieve assigned duties and goals
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability in effective classroom management
  • Passion for quality education and student achievement
  • Ability to function in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with a professional approach to challenges
  • Possess/maintain a current Wisconsin Teacher License, Charter License, or One-Year with Stipulations License in all subject areas taught.

Responsibilities

  • Execute meaningful and engaging learning experiences, interventions, enrichment, remediation, and advising that align with college-preparatory standards.
  • Hold themselves and their students to high standards for academic, behavioral, and social achievement.
  • Know, understand, and follow all WI DPI teacher standards.
  • Work with an Instructional Coach to continually improve teaching practice, focusing on raising achievement levels of traditionally underserved students.
  • Apply best practices in teaching and classroom management.
  • Commit to a culture that promotes learning, respect, trust, and responsibility.
  • Create trusting relationships with students and their families/guardians, involving parents in student success.
  • Analyze data with students and the learning community to set individual learning plans and team goals.
  • Incorporate technology into daily teaching.
  • Maintain an openness to feedback and make corrections in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Update PowerSchool with grades and assignments weekly, posting test grades within 10 days.
  • Read and respond to communication (email, phone messages) daily.
  • Supervise students, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Carmen Schools of Science and Technology.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of Carmen High School of Science and Technology.
  • Possess/maintain a current Wisconsin Teacher License, Charter License, or One-Year with Stipulations License in all subject areas taught.
