About The Position

The Satellite Instructional Assistant is a full-time, hourly position working 191 days per year. This role focuses on supporting students and teachers in a middle school setting, with duties that include teaching reading and math groups, lesson preparation, grading, tracking student data, and substituting in classrooms. The position also involves monitoring student behavior, effort, and performance, as well as supporting administrative functions, lunch duty, car line supervision, and basic accounting. A key aspect of this role is to always consider what is best for students, how to support the classroom teacher and school functions, and how to assist the administration and front office.

Requirements

• Ability to commute to Colorado Springs, CO 80916 (Required)
• Ability to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO 80916 before starting work (Required)
• Adept at working with computers (Word, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent organization skills

Responsibilities

• May be assigned to teach reading and math group
• Lesson preparations, grading, and tracking student data are expected
• Substitute as needed in classrooms
• Monitor student behavior, effort, and performance
• Proctoring MAP and state assessments
• Supporting as needed in the administrative area
• Supporting during lunch room duty
• Helping to support and hold students accountable for expectations
• Supporting in the front office as needed
• Modeling and representing James Irwin Charter Schools in a positive way
• Serving in car line supervision
• Able to do basic accounting and deposits
