About The Position

Attleboro Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Middle School Reading Teacher/Interventionist for Coelho Middle School. The primary goal of this role is to provide students with effective learning activities and experiences to enhance their reading and writing skills. The position emphasizes creating a safe and supportive classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction, fostering student learning and engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
  • MA State Certification as a Teacher, preferably with a middle school reading/ELA focus.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience in middle school.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and educational pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of middle school curriculum and literacy concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates them into engaging learning experiences.
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional and classroom management techniques to meet individual student needs.
  • Prepares lesson objectives and outlines for the course of study, adhering to curriculum guidelines.
  • Provides reading intervention, prioritizing English Learners, for students needing additional support.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
  • Performs individual and small group instruction.
  • Organizes and maintains accurate records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Maintains professional relationships with colleagues, students, families, and community members.
  • Communicates with parents to discuss student progress and concerns.
  • Engages in family outreach and maintains documentation of these activities.
  • Develops a schedule for dedicated reading intervention time at Brennan Middle School.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor.
