About The Position

Cooperative Extension is the outreach of University of Delaware, serving the community by extending knowledge and changing lives. Seeking part-time employees willing to mentor students afterschool with homework, STEAM activities, and participate in field trips/family fun nights. Under the supervision of the Site Director, Mentors are a team member for direct implementation of the day-to-day program. Mentors are assistants to the team as a whole with regards to homework help, enrichment activities, snack/dinner service and set-up/clean up.

Requirements

• At least 1 year experience working with children
• Ability to work 2-3 days per week
• Applicants must be undergraduate students at the University of Delaware.
• Work study eligibility

Responsibilities

• Assist staffing with: daily attendance, snack/dinner records, recreation set-up of activities, snack/dinner set-up and clean up and dismissal attendance procedures.
• Communicate participant conduct to program staff, and Site Director as needed.
• Prepare supply lists for daily programming to the director.
• Assist with supply list/inventory and storing or re-shelving supplies/materials.
• Assist with planning for special events and family fun programming.
• Assist and participate in periodic after hour program events such as: Field Trips, Family Fun Nights, staff meetings and training/professional development (grant requirements).
• Assist with the monthly newsletters, fliers and permission slips as needed to communicate schedules, special events and site logistics.
• Assist with accurate daily attendance, class participation, student retention, and meal records as needed.
• Attend monthly site staff meetings, and workshops as required for childcare licensing.
