About The Position

North Marion School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher to inspire students to develop strong mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their learning. This position plays an essential role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where all students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to achieve academic success. The Middle School Math Teacher plans and delivers rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students. Through meaningful relationships, effective instructional practices, and collaboration with colleagues and families, this role prepares students for success at the next level.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate Mathematics endorsement (or ability to obtain; conditional license considered)
  • Successful background and criminal history clearance
  • Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content, instructional strategies, and effective assessment practices
  • Ability to create engaging learning experiences that support students with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, colleagues, and community partners
  • Ability to meet the physical and communication demands of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching secondary mathematics
  • Experience implementing differentiated instruction and data-informed teaching practices
  • Experience supporting students through MTSS, IEP, and 504 processes
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools
  • Bilingual skills or experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that supports student growth and achievement
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, belonging, and academic success
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction
  • Establish clear learning objectives and communicate expectations for student success
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and mathematical reasoning skills
  • Maintain effective classroom management and support positive student behavior
  • Build positive relationships with students that encourage engagement, perseverance, and personal responsibility
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, achievements, and areas of concern
  • Collaborate with colleagues, instructional staff, and administrators to improve student outcomes and support school goals
  • Participate in MTSS, IEP, 504, and other student support meetings as appropriate and implement required accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in accordance with district policies and state requirements
  • Supervise and provide direction to instructional assistants, volunteers, and other support staff as assigned
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and protect district resources, equipment, and facilities
  • Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, committees, and ongoing professional growth opportunities
  • Serve as a positive, ethical role model for students and uphold the standards of the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)
